I live on a block that is except for our working with the local police WROL. It is mostly ghetto, mostly renters, and a place we hope to escape when the market picks up. That block is part of a small section called the west ward, it is part of a small city called Easton. 67 police officers, 1100 known gang members, many times that number of adicts, dealers and other criminals and maybe a hundred or so people trying to make viable patches of civilization in those parts of the USA that quite bluntly are by the choice of the inhabitants, WROL.
Sadly most attempts at bringing together the homeowners who are trying to make a difference have failed and why, because most are either to the extreme left or extreme right. There is very little middle ground between us and of course the constant consideration of gang or criminal repercussions. Still, we soldier on. In my area, sans being able to own firearms, get good hand to hand training and being able to rely on the police, the home would be untenable…we would have no choice but to kill in large numbers or to flee. And to be fair the criminal element is in the minority, mostly young, mostly welfare (supported by crime), mostly Black, but that’s a close run thing-60% Black, 40 % white and other.
We do thankfully have the Guardian Angels…but I think we all see the way this is going.
American and other first world nation laws don’t allow for the existence of such people, which makes it damned hard to fight them legally. My security and that of my family relies solely on immediate response and a willingness to use violence on my part coupled with an ability to do it well. In short we use the police, intimidation and where possible conversation to hold the locals at a so far mostly quiet pitch. We can push them back into the darkness, but there is almost no way to be fully rid of them legally.
So, that being said, it should be interesting to watch this site grow. If at times we may disagree…well, most days I’m living WROL .
